POEM
The Black Curtain
By Noam Polinger · May 4, 2026 · 3 min read

We search.
We search for family.
We search for friends.
We search for wealth.
We search for success
We search for validation.
We search for answers.
We search for completion.
We search for acceptance.
We search for understanding.
We search for relationship.
We search for health.
We search for home.
We search for love.
We search for life.
We search for ourselves.
But what if...
Everything we're searching for is right there in front of us the entire time?
Just behind the black curtain of fear, doubt, shame, anxiety, and negativity.
What if somewhere in that curtain there's a shimmer of light?
The tiniest of cracks in an endless abyss of darkness.
What if all we have to do is climb through that opening?
Unsure of what's on the other side.
Trusting in the smallest of glimmers.
A mustard seed worth of faith.
What if on the other side…
Is everything you've ever searched for...and more?
More than you could imagine.
Beyond anything the mind can comprehend.
What if what you're actually searching for was never outside of you?
But has lived within you this entire time.
Waiting.
Waiting for the moment you find the small crack of light.
And discover yourself.
Never abandoning you.
Never betraying you.
Never ceasing to shine while you keep searching.
What if everything you're searching for is you?
What if your existence is not about searching...
But allowing yourself to be found?
Will you allow yourself to be found?
